Witness of the Light

A few years back, I was memorizing John 1:1-14. This is such a powerful chapter on the beginning and purpose of Jesus’ ministry. So, as usual, I decided to put these verses to song. After dividing it into three sections, I began working on each one. The section for this song, verses 6-9, talks about how John the Baptist was a witness, telling others of the Great Light that was rising over this dark world. Jesus Himself said of him, “Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist” (Matthew 11:11 KJV) God is calling us today to be His witnesses, too. Isaiah 43:10 says, “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.” Will you answer His call with, “Here am I, send me”?
